National Association for Gun Rights Calls for Indiana Lawmakers to Pass Constitutional Carry

press release

Indianapolis, INThe National Association for Gun Rights is calling on Indiana lawmakers to pass Constitutional Carry legislation during 2022 legislative session.

House Bill 1077, Constitutional Carry, was adopted by a 9-3 vote by the Committee on Public Policy on Jan. 5, 2022.

“Our staff are already on the ground, activating grassroots activists and working tirelessly to advance true Constitutional Carry legislation in the Indiana legislature,” said Dudley Brown, President of National Association for Gun Rights. “Our members will not settle for a weak bill, and I believe we are on track to restore gun rights for all law-abiding Hoosiers.”

Constitutional Carry is the simple concept that any law-abiding adult who is legally able to possess a handgun should be able to carry that handgun openly or concealed, without having to pay a tax or obtain a government permit.

The National Association for Gun Rights, and state affiliate Hoosier Gun Rights, have spent multiple legislative cycles lobbying the legislature in Indiana, while also rallying grassroots gun owners throughout the state to crank up pressure on their elected officials to pass Constitutional Carry.

“We are well positioned this year to apply pressure from our members to ensure lawmakers vote on a clean bill in both chambers and send Constitutional Carry to the governor’s desk,” said Will Fite, Legislative Director of Hoosier Gun Rights. “We will not stop working until Constitutional Carry is the law of the land and the Second Amendment rights of Hoosier gun owners are restored.”

If passed and signed into law, Indiana will join 21 other states with some form of Constitutional Carry enshrined in law.

The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation’s largest “no compromise” pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members nationwide.
