NAGR Calls on SC Senate Republicans to Pass Constitutional Carry Bill As Is

Columbia, SC – The National Association for Gun Rights is calling on the South Carolina Senate to pass the House’s version of Constitutional Carry Bill H 3594 as is, without amendment.

The House stripped out numerous additions by the Senate citing an enormous backlash against the amendments from their constituents and pro-gun groups like the National Association for Gun Rights and Palmetto Gun Rights.

“Senate Republicans deliberately voted to add a slew of anti-gun garbage to the bill last time after making a backroom deal under the cover of darkness. They’re getting a second chance to make this right, unless they want the backlash that the House got times ten, they better send this straight to the Governor’s desk without changes,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.

NAGR has signaled its intent to refer the matter to its legal arm, the National Foundation for Gun Rights, to explore “legal actions and remedies to protect the Second and Fourteenth Amendment rights of South Carolina citizens” were this bill to become law with added anti-gun amendments.

“For so called ‘Republicans’ to get so close to passage and then poison their own bill is embarrassing. If the Senate doesn’t concur this will be another backroom deal to pull Constitutional Carry behind closed doors and load it down with gun control yet again. A vote against concurrence is a vote to kill the bill,” said Tommy Dimsdale, Executive Director of Palmetto Gun Rights, the state affiliate of NAGR. “We’ve got 27 other states that have already passed it and Louisiana is on the brink. The time is right for South Carolina to get this done now.”

The National Association for Gun Rights and Palmetto Gun Rights are urging legislators to pass a clean Constitutional Carry bill on to the Governor immediately.

The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation’s second largest pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members and supporters nationwide.
