Michigan Dems Introduce Bill to Ban “Colorful” Guns

Michigan Democratic State Senator Dayna Polehandki drafted Senate Bill 1134, which defines and would ban a “deceptively colored firearm.”

Senate Bill 1134 would apply to firearms which have banned colors on the exterior of the receiver, exterior of the slide, or more than half of the overall exterior, aside from black, brown, dark green, silver, or similar colors.

Polehanki also created the exception for already possessed “deceptively colored” firearms before the effective date of the bill, if passed.

For those who possess such “deceptively colored” firearms may face a $500 fine or a year in prison.

The National Association for Gun Rights contended the bill on X (formerly Twitter) saying:

“It is your 2A right to own the silliest colored firearm you can possibly conceive. Lame duck Michigan Dems are pathetic, throwing everything and the kitchen sink at gun owners before they’re thrown out.”

Amidst the “colorful gun” ban, Michigan Democrats have advanced bills recently to ban firearm carry in the State Capitol and other office buildings for the legislature on a party line vote.
