On Wednesday, April 9, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the creation of a Second Amendment Task Force at the Department of Justice to “develop and execute strategies to use litigation and policy to advance, protect, and promote compliance with the Second Amendment.”
Bondi is set to serve as chair of the task force while Deputy Attorney General Todd Blance will serve as the vice chair.
Bondi released the following statement regarding the creation of the Second Amendment Task Force at the Department of Justice:
“The prior administration placed an undue burden on gun owners and vendors by targeting law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights. The Department of Justice’s new Second Amendment Task Force will combine department-wide policy and litigation resources to advance President Trump’s pro-gun agenda and protect gun owners from overreach.”

The National Association for Gun Rights has stated that this is only a small step, but the Attorney General should go further.
Specifically, the National Association for Gun Rights is gathering petitions to deliver to Bondi and the Department of Justice to repeal the following:
- Final Rule 2021R-08F – Factoring Criteria for Firearms With Attached “Stabilizing Braces.” This rule banned pistol braced firearms unless they were registered under the NFA as short-barreled rifles.
- Final Rule 2022R-17F – Definition of “Engaged in the Business” as a Dealer in Firearms. This rule gave the ATF a blank check to crack down on private firearm sales by declaring just about anyone a “dealer” and subjecting them to FFL regulations.
You can sign your petition calling on Pam Bondi to repeal the ATF gun control rules here.
