Gov. John Bel Edwards Vetoes Constitutional Carry in Louisiana
Louisiana was poised to become the 22nd state to pass Constitutional Carry

Baton Rouge, LA – The National Association for Gun Rights condemns Gov. Edwards’ veto today of SB118, a bill that would have made Louisiana the 22nd state to pass Constitutional Carry in the United States.

“With Texas, Mississippi, and Arkansas already Constitutional Carry states, Louisiana remains an island of gun control tyranny in a sea of firearms freedom,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “Constitutional Carry is the gold standard for gun rights restoration, and the Louisiana legislature needs to override this flagrant denial of the will of the people immediately.”

“With the Biden administration waging all-out war on the right to keep and bear arms, it is extremely important for Louisiana to keep gun rights moving forward on the state level,” said Brown.

Gun rights restoration at the state and local level has long been a focus of NAGR – especially with anti-gun activists invading government offices in Washington, D.C.

“Millions of new gun owners and months of new gun sales records prove Joe Biden is tone deaf when it comes to gun rights,” said Brown.

The National Association for Gun Rights urges the Louisiana legislature to meet in veto override session to overturn the governor’s veto and make Constitutional Carry the law in Louisiana immediately.

The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation’s second largest pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members and supporters nationwide.
