National Association for Gun Rights testifies in support of Constitutional Carry

Lincoln, NE – Last week during the Governor’s Forum at SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV, Governor Pete Ricketts said he would sign Constitutional Carry legislation into law if it made it to his desk.

“There is a fight going on in our country right now over our Second Amendment,” said Ricketts during the forum. “Those are the types of things that have a big impact, [A Governor] being pro-active and saying hey, I support the Second Amendment,” he added.

National Association for Gun Rights Regional Director Matthew Mammoser was also in Lincoln testifying in the Judiciary Committee on January 20th urging them to pass Nebraska’s Constitutional Carry bill, LB 773.

“The people of Nebraska are sending a clear message this election year,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “They expect their Senators in Lincoln to pass a true Constitutional Carry bill right away.”

Governor Ricketts making his statement coincides with a massive grassroots mobilization campaign consisting of mail, email, phone calls, and social media ads all designed to activate Nebraskans statewide for this important fight to restore gun rights.

Constitutional Carry is the straightforward idea that law-abiding citizens shouldn’t need to pay a tax and get permission from the government to exercise their right to bear arms.

“Legislative Bill 773 is a simple bill.” said Mammoser. “It doesn’t allow anyone to carry a weapon that cannot legally possess one.”

Twenty-one states currently recognize the right to carry a handgun without a permit, including virtually all neighboring states.
