Columbia, SC – The National Association for Gun Rights and Palmetto Gun Rights are issuing a statement of opposition to the “Palmetto Truth Project”. A recent spate of mailers, texts, emails, and social media posts designed to mislead voters ahead of the state’s primary election prompted the announcement.
“The lies, deceit, and smear tactics of the Palmetto Truth Project have been disgusting,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “Now that we know there’s a direct correlation between uniparty establishment in Columbia and the ‘“Truth’” Project, House Speaker Murrell Smith should be ashamed of the falsehoods being spun under his leadership.”
The lawmakers targeted by the truth project are in fact the most pro-gun members of the South Carolina House who advocated for the strongest possible versions of Constitutional Carry over the objections of weak Republican leadership.
Executive Director of Palmetto Gun Rights, Tommy Dimsdale, aired his opposition to the Palmetto Truth Project’s stance, “The establishment class in Columbia are using every dirty trick in the book to distort records and trash the reputations of pro-gun lawmakers that forced them to pass Constitutional Carry this past year.”
Dimsdale went further saying, “Now that it’s come to light that the establishment class consultant group is behind these attacks, it just confirms what we knew all along.”
Representatives from the National Association for Gun Rights and Palmetto Gun Rights both vowed to set the record straight and encourage gun owners to reject narratives from leadership in Columbia and the Palmetto Truth Project during the heated primary season.
The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation’s second largest pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members and supporters nationwide.
