Richardson, TX – Texas Gun Rights Executive Director Chris McNutt presented State Representative Bryan Slaton (R-HD 2) with the .50 Caliber Freedom Award for his commitment to protecting the right to keep and bear arms in Texas.
“State Representative Bryan Slaton has positioned himself as one of the most fiercely pro-gun legislators in the Texas Legislature.” said McNutt.
“During his short time in the Legislature, Representative Slaton not only helped to successfully thwart all Bloomberg-backed gun control, but he also helped to strengthen Texas’ new Constitutional Carry law before voting for its passage.” said McNutt. “House District 2 finally has a pro-gun champion it can be proud of, which is why Representative Slaton has also earned the endorsement of Texas Gun Rights PAC.”
House Bill 1927 (Constitutional Carry), authored by Representative Matt Schaefer (R-HD 6), was signed into law in June of 2021 making Texas the 21st state in the country to adopt a similar law.
The .50 Caliber Freedom Award from the National Association for Gun Rights is only awarded to elected officials who are true champions of the Second Amendment. Other holders of this award include U.S. Senator Rand Paul and Congressman Thomas Massie.
Congressman Chip Roy (R-CD 21) and State Representatives Matt Schaefer (R-HD 6), Kyle Biedermann (R-HD 73) and Jeff Cason (R-HD 92) are also slated to receive the .50 Caliber Freedom Award soon.
Texas Gun Rights is the state affiliate of the National Association for Gun Rights, the nation’s largest no-compromise gun rights organization, with 4.5 million members and supporters nationwide.
