Lansing, MI – Last night, a gunman entered the Michigan State University campus, killing 3 individuals and wounding 5. Initial reports indicate he took his own life while leaving the campus and being pursued by the police.
Before the Michigan State University Campus Police had an opportunity to brief the public about the events last night, several Democrat lawmakers called for gun restrictions – with no facts on hand.
“I am praying for the victims of this violence, the families that lost a loved one and for those who are fighting for their lives in the hospital,” said Brenden Boudreau, Executive Director for Great Lakes Gun Rights. “Once again, so-called ‘gun free’ zones and restrictive gun laws which did nothing to thwart a truly vile person and left innocent students helpless. Yet Democrats in Lansing are quickly politicizing this tragedy, demanding more gun control be enacted – even before the police can give an account of what happened.”
Police have not yet established a motive for the murders.
“Handgun registration laws and ‘gun-free’ zones didn’t stop this evil madman, and they won’t stop another one in the future. More gun control in Michigan will leave law-abiding citizens helpless when they need to defend themselves and others. Lawmakers should expect to hear from their constituents in the coming days opposing their radical anti-gun agenda,” concluded Boudreau.
Great Lakes Gun Rights is urging pro-gun Michiganders to call their legislators and demand they oppose all gun control efforts.
