Washington D.C. – The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) is notifying House Members that they will be scoring tomorrow’s procedural rule vote on H.J. Res. 44, a resolution to nullify ATF’s ban on pistol braces.
The new rule (ATF Rule 2021R-08F) significantly expands the definition of “rifle” under federal law, imposing significant criminal liability on millions of Americans exercising their Second Amendment rights.
“Congress should have acted sooner,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “And now millions of brace owners are at risk of being fined and losing their freedom because Congress dragged their feet for months.”
“This is no time to play politics on the House floor. Every Republican in the House should support moving this resolution onto the Senate, and that is what we expect to happen. We will be scoring the rule vote. H.J. Res. 44 must move forward,” said Brown.
The House is expected to vote midday on Tuesday.
The Congressional Research Service estimates 10 to 40 million stabilizing braces are currently in circulation. The ATF says only 250,000 have been registered as of the May 31st deadline.
The National Association for Gun Rights is the nation’s largest “no compromise” pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members nationwide.
