After a nearly ten year battle, HB 1296 is going to the Governor to sign

Indianapolis, IN – The National Association for Gun Rights and its state affiliate Hoosier Gun Rights celebrated the passage of HB 1296, Constitutional Carry, out of the legislature late Tuesday evening with a vote of 30-20 in favor.

“This is a huge win for gun owners in Indiana,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights, “Our members persevered through a decade-long fight to make this happen.”

Brown went on to say the only step left is for Governor Holcomb to sign the bill into law.

“The governor is shifty on the Second Amendment,” said Brown, “This is why we aren’t going to let up the pressure until Constitutional Carry is officially law.”

Holcomb spoke unfavorably on Constitutional Carry in the past, but he’s told capitol insiders he will sign the bill once it gets to his desk.

Hoosier Gun Rights Director of Legislation, Will Fite, concurred with Brown’s call for continued pressure.

“Folks in Indiana have fought too hard and too long to have their gun rights restored to let this slip,” said Fite, “We are going to press forward, mobilizing our tens of thousands of members to call and urge the governor to sign Constitutional Carry.”

HB 1296 heads to the governor’s desk as early as today. The governor can veto the bill, sign it into law, or let it go into law without his signature.

The National Association for Gun Rights is dedicated to defending gun owners and standing up for the Second Amendment.
