Sen. Joni Ernst is working with the Biden administration to pass legislation which will leave vulnerable women defenseless
Washington, D.C. – Republican Senator Joni Ernst cut a deal with the Biden administration to pass a newly drafted version of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) containing gun control provisions.
Sources inside Washington, D.C. provided early bill text to the National Association for Gun Rights, and under the proposed law, women and men will be allowed to legally be stripped of their Second Amendment rights without due process of law, based off mere accusations from former or current partners.
“No other Constitutional right is treated with such great disdain as your right to self-defense. Drafting legislation which is intended to protect women, but simultaneously allowing for baseless accusations to be the bedrock for which your rights are taken away is an absolute gross violation of due process and the Second Amendment,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.
The proposed VAWA bill text expands the Lautenberg misdemeanor gun ban to include non-criminal offenses and re-defines the term intimate partner to include any “dating partner.” This section also redefines stalking to include any “emotional distress.”
“You really want to stop violence against women? Get rid of all the burdensome regulations which prevent women from purchasing and carrying firearms to protect themselves. Women are the fastest growing demographic of new gun owners, and we want them to be able to defend themselves if they need to. But instead, Republicans are busy cutting deals with Joe Biden when they should be focused on passing legislation which enables women to proactively defend themselves.” concluded Brown.
The National Association for Gun Rights is calling on its members to lobby Sen. Joni Ernst and their U.S. Senators in opposition to the so-called Violence Against Women Act and misdemeanor gun ban.
