New York State Senator Introduces Bill to Ban Popular Handguns

Last week, New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie (D-20) introduced S9225, a bill completely ban the sale of Glocks and other semi-automatic handguns.

The argument Democrats in the Empire State are making is that Glocks and other semi-automatic handguns can be easily converted into machine guns through the installation or attachment of a “pistol converter,” more commonly known as a “Glock switch.”

However, under federal law, possession of a “auto sear” or “Glock switch” is a felony without the proper paperwork and background check having been performed.

The bill is written specifically to ban the sale of “easily-convertible” firearms, which would effectively ban all striker-fired handguns and push felony charges on gun dealers who continue to sell said firearms.

On top of the outrageous handgun ban, lawmakers in New York are also considering “Red Flag’ Gun Confiscation and raising the age to purchase a rifle from 18 to 21 years old.
