Harrisburg, PA – Pennsylvania Gun Rights, the state affiliate of the National Association for Gun Rights announced that they delivered 130,000 petitions to all 203 members of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, the Pennsylvania State Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Governor Josh Shapiro.
“These constituent petitions had a simple message: No Gun Control, No Deals.’ Pennsylvanians are tired of their Second Amendment rights being first on the negotiating table when it comes to making policy deals and that message was sent loud and clear to the General Assembly and Governor Shapiro last week,” said Craig Storrs, Jr., Executive Director of Pennsylvania Gun Rights.
Members and staff of Pennsylvania Gun Rights along with the National Association for Gun Rights brought thirty-three (33) boxes of petitions and spent the days of October 1st and 2nd delivering them around the Capitol.
“These petitions put Speaker Joanna McClinton, Governor Josh Shapiro, and all legislators on notice that the sixty (60) anti-gun bills run in the House of Representatives this past legislative cycle are wholly unacceptable and will be viewed as an assault on the rights of law-abiding Pennsylvanians,” Storrs explained.
Democrats in Harrisburg have introduced over sixty anti-gun bills between the State House and State Senate ranging from various infringements on the Second Amendment like “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation, Universal Gun Registration, and much more.
When asked about the impact of the petitions, pro-gun Representative David Rowe from the 85th State House District in Union County said: “It’s encouraging, because it shows that the people are engaged. A lot of times, in this building, people think they can get away with taking a vote that is against the oath to uphold the Constitution…they think they can get away with that!”
Pro-gun Representative Robert Leadbeter from the 109th State House District in Columbia County said: “It’s clear, with 130,000 petitions delivered to both the State House and State Senate that Pennsylvanians’ resolve in fighting for and advocating to keep their Second Amendment right could not be clearer. That conviction was showcased in that tangible petition that [Pennsylvania Gun Rights] was able to deliver to every single Representative’s and Senator’s office.”
Pennsylvania Gun Rights is the fastest growing “no compromise” pro-gun organization in the Keystone State. PAGR is the Pennsylvania affiliate of the National Association for Gun Rights, the nation’s largest “no compromise” pro-gun organization, with 4.5 million members nationwide.
