As Governor, Roy Cooper vetoed bills to enforce immigration and punish rioters, and fought to keep gun owners under permits. Now Chuck Schumer wants him in the Senate.
Roy Cooper, the Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, wants gun owners to think he’s a moderate.
His record as Governor says otherwise.
In 2019, Cooper vetoed a bill requiring sheriffs to cooperate with ICE detainers.¹ A similar bill, House Bill 10, became law in 2024 only after the legislature overrode his veto.²
In 2021, he vetoed a bill increasing punishment for riots and civil disorder.³
And his administration agreed to the early release of 3,500 prisoners in a 2021 settlement.⁴
But when it came to law-abiding gun owners, Cooper dug in.
Twice, he vetoed bills to repeal North Carolina’s pistol purchase permit system.⁵ It took the legislature overriding his veto to restore North Carolinians’ rights.⁶

That should tell North Carolina gun owners everything they need to know.
And his gun control agenda doesn’t stop at the state line.
In 2022, Cooper called on Congress to reinstate a nationwide “Assault Weapons” Ban and require Universal Gun Registration.⁷ He also supports “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws.⁸

Chuck Schumer is working to make sure Cooper gets to Washington.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer recruited Cooper to run for the Senate,⁹ and Schumer’s super PAC, Senate Majority PAC, has committed about $42 million to his race.¹⁰

Schumer doesn’t spend that kind of money for free. He’s buying another anti-gun rubber stamp for the Senate.
The Gun Control Lobby knows what it’s getting, too. GIFFORDS, one of the most extreme gun control groups in America, has endorsed Cooper for the U.S. Senate.¹¹
North Carolina gun owners deserve to know the truth about the man asking for their vote.
That’s why NAGR and Gun Rights America SuperPAC are exposing Cooper’s record.
The National Association for Gun Rights is taking Roy Cooper’s record directly to gun owners across North Carolina while Gun Rights America SuperPAC is running ads and phone calls and more through Election Day on November 3rd.
Through hard-hitting ads, phone calls, text messages and an all-out blitz to mobilize grassroots gun activists, NAGR is exposing the agenda of Cooper, and every gun grabber like him this election cycle.
Help us keep exposing gun grabbers before November 3rd.
