Exposed: Dan Osborn Wants AR-15 Owners to Pass a Government Mental Health Test Every Five Years

A right you must renew every five years under government supervision is not a right. It is a permission slip the government can revoke.

Dan Osborn, the independent running for U.S. Senate in Nebraska, thinks owners of AR-15s and other ordinary guns should pass a government mental health evaluation every five years and re-register those firearms just to keep what they already legally own.¹

That should tell Nebraska gun owners everything they need to know.

At a town hall in Omaha, Osborn floated a preemptive “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation scheme targeting lawful owners of so-called “assault-style rifles.”¹

And how did Osborn test his idea? By asking one gun owner at a town hall in Columbus. In Osborn’s telling, he asked whether the man owned “an AR-15, an M16, an AK-47, or anything like that,” then asked whether he’d have an issue re-registering those guns after a mental health exam.²

The five-year timeline? Osborn said he was “just throwing a random number out there.”²

That’s Osborn’s standard for a government mental health test on law-abiding rifle owners: one conversation and a random number.

Once the government decides who is mentally fit to own a rifle, the people making that call will be the same people who never wanted you to own one in the first place.

A right you must renew every five years under government supervision is not a right.

It is a permission slip the government can revoke.

Nebraska gun owners deserve the truth about the candidates who seek to represent them in Washington.

That’s why NAGR and Gun Rights America SuperPAC are exposing Osborn’s record.

The National Association for Gun Rights is taking Dan Osborn’s record directly to gun owners across Nebraska while Gun Rights America SuperPAC is running a TV ads and hard-hitting political program through Election Day on November 3rd.

NAGR is exposing the agenda of Osborn, and every gun grabber like him this election cycle.

Help us keep exposing gun grabbers before November 3rd.
