John Fetterman: A Wolf in Sheep’s Hoodie?

Have you been fooled..? Senator John Fetterman is trying to reinvent himself. With his re-election still three years away, he’s been rowing back his tone, softening his rhetoric, and attempting to appear more moderate to his voter base. But Pennsylvania gun owners shouldn’t be deceived. No amount of political spin can erase his record. Beneath the hoodie, gym shorts, and his carefully curated public persona lies a senator whose actions speak louder than any of his recent words. John Fetterman remains as committed as ever to gutting the Second Amendment.

Fetterman wasted no time making his anti-gun agenda clear. As one of his very first acts in the Senate, he co-sponsored the radical “Assault Weapons” Ban (S.25). This wasn’t just another piece of legislation; it was a deliberate move to signal where his true loyalties lie. By supporting a sweeping ban on commonly owned firearms, Fetterman sent a clear message: dismantling the Second Amendment is one of his top priorities.

This isn’t new behavior for Fetterman. He’s long been a vocal advocate for gun control, using every high-profile tragedy as an opportunity to push for more restrictions on law-abiding Americans. His stance goes beyond halting future sales of so-called “assault weapons.” He’s supported measures that would force Americans to surrender firearms they already legally own. This isn’t about safety or common sense; it’s about stripping citizens of their constitutional rights under the guise of “reform.”

Now, with Pennsylvania shifting politically and becoming more conservative, Fetterman appears to be adjusting his public image. But don’t mistake this for a genuine change of heart. This is a political calculation at its finest, a desperate attempt to hold onto power in a state where voters are increasingly rejecting anti-gun policies. His recent moves aren’t about aligning with the values of Pennsylvania gun owners—they’re about survival.

Gun owners must not let him off the hook. Fetterman has shown time and again that he’s willing to side with anti-gun extremists, and no amount of rebranding should obscure that fact. If he’s serious about representing the interests of Pennsylvania voters, he should unequivocally disavow his previous support for gun control. But words alone aren’t enough. He must take meaningful action in the Senate to restore and protect the Second Amendment.

Fetterman could start by supporting legislation that advances the rights of gun owners. He could fight for Thomas Massie’s Real National Constitutional Carry, ensuring every American – regardless of their zip code –  can exercise their right to self-defense without unnecessary government interference. He could champion efforts to deregulate suppressors, which have long been unfairly demonized. He could even push to abolish the ATF, an agency notorious for targeting law-abiding gun owners with excessive regulations. The National Association for Gun Rights has laid out a comprehensive Program for Freedom that includes these measures, but Fetterman has shown no interest in supporting them.

The reality is that Fetterman’s recent rhetoric is nothing more than a reaction to Democrats’ disastrous showing in Pennsylvania last year. He knows the political climate is shifting, and he’s trying to adapt. But this is the same John Fetterman who aligned himself with California-style gun control, the same senator who co-sponsored sweeping bans that would criminalize ordinary gun owners. Pennsylvania deserves better than a politician who changes his tune when it suits him.

Imagine a different scenario: If Kamala Harris had found herself in the White House and Bob Casey were still in the Senate, does anyone doubt that Fetterman would be one of Harris’s staunchest allies? His track record leaves little room for doubt. He would be backing her every step of the way, pushing for more restrictions, more bans, and more attacks on the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Fetterman’s loyalty isn’t to Pennsylvania gun owners—it’s to the anti-gun establishment.

The next time Fetterman tries to present himself as moderate or “reasonable,” remember his record. Remember his unwavering support for bans and restrictions that would make criminals out of law-abiding Americans. Remember his willingness to exploit tragedies to advance an agenda that has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with control. Pennsylvania gun owners must stay vigilant and demand accountability. Words are cheap, but Fetterman’s actions speak volumes.

Fetterman hasn’t changed. He’s just playing politics. Beneath the hoodie and rebranding lies the same anti-gun wolf Pennsylvania gun owners have seen all along. Don’t let the blue-collar costume fool you… A wolf is still a wolf.
